1 To All The Girls I’ve Loved Before – Willie Nelson

While the Julio Iglesias version of this song is arguably more popular, the slower pace and Willie’s voice combine to make his rendition of this song bound past simple “mood killing” to just flat out depressing.

That’s on top of the fact that bringing up the topic of previous female conquests to your current significant other is a horrible idea on Valentine’s day, her birthday, your Anniversary, Christmas, New Year’s, Arbor Day, National Pizza Day…pretty much any day on any calendar ever.

2 If You Can’t Be With The One You Love, Love The One You’re With – Stephen Stills

Some songs have lyrics that can be interpreted multiple ways…just not this song!

If you and your Sweetie spend any time separated for work trips, school or anything else, never ever play this song.

The suspicion of cheating is like herpes for a relationship: once it gets out, it is uncomfortable, painful and real hard to suppress.

3 Baby Got Back – Sir Mix-A-Lot

While Sir Mix-A-Lot’s musical masterpiece earned on of the top spots on a previous list of mine (Top 25 Songs That Make White People Dance), it is NOT a top choice to play on a private evening with your special someone for one simple reason:

NO. WOMAN. EVER. WANTS. TO. BE. TOLD. SHE. HAS. A. BIG. BUTT!

Like Ever! Seriously, if your anaconda wants some, don’t tell her she has big buns.

4 (I Hate) Everything About You – Ugly Kid Joe

Valentine’s Day is a time to express your warm feelings and devotion towards your most beloved.

So the sound of Ugly Kid Joe pelting out lyrics like “I Hate Everything About You!” is probably not going to create the romantic atmosphere you are hoping for.

Side Note: The fact that the main character in the music video is a blow up doll only adds to the awkwardness of this selection.

5 It Wasn’t Me – Shaggy

This is a song literally all about being busted in the act of repeatedly cheating on your woman (in multiple creative ways for that matter) and blatantly lying to her face about it. And who says “romance is dead?”

“But she caught me in the shower! Say ‘it wasn’t me.”

I mean that is a whole new level of bold-faced lying that crosses the threshold “untruthfulness” into “behavior so delusional it may require medical assistance.”

Although, I do need to give Shaggy credit for being ahead of the times by having a video doorbell in this video around the same time the rest of us were worried if Y2K was going to end life as we knew it…

Honorable Mention – Every Breath You Take – The Police

Seriously, this song is basically an anthem for stalkers in need of court ordered restraining orders!

Great music but the lyrics have not aged well and could now be considered down right creepy!
