Did A Woman In A Wheelchair Really Win A Treadmill On The Price Is Right?

Like most 80’s kids, days where I skipped school…oops, I mean…days where I stayed home from school ill, I could be found at 11 AM in front of the family room TV watching The Price Is Right and Barker’s Beauties!

But, do to work and life and such, I haven’t watched much The Price Is Right in the last couple of years.

So I always thought the story about a woman in a wheelchair winning a treadmill on the show was an urban legend.

But, nope, I was wrong. It legit happened on Cinco de Mayo of 2015!

Los Angeles based comedian Danielle Perez got the thrill every Price Is Right studio audience member dreams of: To hear her name called to “Come On Down!” to contestants’ row!

“I was the first name called and put my hands up and just rolled down the little ramp, like ‘OK, this is happening, this is incredible,'” she told People.

But her adventure didn’t stop there because she won the bidding on a prize and was called up to the stage. In the clip you can see one of the ushers directing here where to go to get on the stage to meet Drew Carey.

Things got a little bit awkward when the prizes she had a chance to win were revealed to be …A TREADMILL and A WALK IN SAUNA!

Danielle, who is wheelchair bound and doesn’t have feet, took it all in stride and can even be heard over Drew’s mic saying “Those are really nice.”

When she found out she won a treadmill, she said, “I just thought, ‘Oh, this is perfect, you cannot write this, you cannot make this up.’ It’s not even that I’m in a wheelchair, it’s that I literally don’t have feet.”

The great news is that Danielle seems like a super nice young lady and she did win both the treadmill and the sauna!

Who knows, maybe she will use her new treadmill the same way I use mine: To hang my laundry on.

And remember, “help control the pet population by having your pets spayed or neutered.”
