Let’s be honest: The average lifespan of a heavy metal rocker is only slightly longer than that of a red shirted ensign on a Star Treklanding party.
But while drug overdoses, alcohol poisoning and the occasional on-stage pyrotechnic mishap are usually to blame, guitarist Josh Martin found a more heavy metal way to meet his maker this past month.

Martin is mostly known for his work with the ‘grindcore‘ band with the non G-rated name of Anal Cunt.
A.C. has recorded multiple literary masterpieces that would make any honors English teacher proud: including “I Sold Your Dog To A Chinese Restaurant” and “Hitler Was A Sensitive Man.”
I am sure these tracks are known as the ‘Walden Pond‘s of their literary genre.
According to a police report, the 45-year-old was reportedly “clowning around and riding the rail of the escalator” before he fell backwards off an escalator at the Providence Place shopping mall in Providence, Rhode Island.
He fell one story into the food court and hit his head on the corner of a table. He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital but was pronounced dead soon after.
Martin has also has been a member of other heavy metal and ‘grindcore’ bands over the years, including ‘Adolf Satan‘.
‘Grindcore’ is a genre of rock music that originated in the 1980’s and combines elements of punk, metal and noise rock.
He also made some headlines recently when he heckled KISS frontman Gene Simmons at a Providence. Rhode Island concert. Simmons was receiving a key to the city which apparently Maritn didn’t agree with. Whatever he yelled at Simmons was enough to upset Simmons enough that he charged into the audience and attempted to fight him!
On a serious note, this was not the first fall or even fatality from an escalator fall at the Providence Place Mall. A woman fell to death celebrating her birthday in 2004 and another man was injured when he fell off an escalator there in 2009.
