Wow. Between this movie and Thor Ragnarok, I am going to be giving Disney a ton of my money this holiday season!
Here is the trailer, then let’s talk about it a bit.
Ok, so what do we know so far?
As I mentioned in a previous article, in English, Jedi is both plural and singular. However, in the French and Spanish releases of Star Wars: The Last Jedi promotional material, the plural form of Jedi was used. So from this we can infer that “The Last Jedi” is not simply referring to Rey, but multiple Jedi.
This combined with us hearing Luke Skywalker mention “It is time for the Jedi to end”, we know that we are talking about the last Jedi (plural).
From the teaser, it appears that Luke is training Rey in the ways of the Force. We see her practicing with the lightsaber and getting her Neo (from the Matrix) on with the pebbles.
Very ala Luke training with Yoda on Dagobah in Empire Strikes Back, although I doubt we will see Rey running around with Luke stuffed in a backpack like Master Blaster from Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.
Hopefully The Last Jedi doesn’t mirror Empire Strikes Back in the same way The Force Awakens mirrored A New Hope. It was great to see and I really enjoyed The Force Awakens, but I would much rather see a new story.
The Re-quel (sequel and re-make together) idea was fun the first time through, but we really do not need a 4th Deathstar. And what is the over/under on someone losing a hand in a lightsaber battle?

Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens this Christmas and it appears to be the best Christmas present for Star Wars fans in a long time!
