Last Call For The NES Classic, April Will Be The Last Shipments Of The Hard To Find Console

In an unsurprising move, Nintendo has officially discontinued the NES Classic gaming console.

A Nintendo representative provided the following statement to IGN:

“Throughout April, NOA territories will receive the last shipments of Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition systems for this year. We encourage anyone interested in obtaining this system to check with retail outlets regarding availability. We understand that it has been difficult for many consumers to find a system, and for that we apologize. We have paid close attention to consumer feedback, and we greatly appreciate the incredible level of consumer interest and support for this product.”

Nintendo representatives have said that the unit was never intended to be an ongoing product, just a limited time offering.

The cancellation does draw a close to what has been a public relations nightmare for Nintendo who, despite multiple promises to consumers, were never able to get supply issues sorted out.

Geeky Daddy was able to finally receive and review a NES Classic console just last month.

If you are unable to get your hands on an NES Classic but really want to play original 8 bit Nintendo games, there are various mods available on Amazon.
