“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2” has a perfect score of 100 out of 100 in early screenings, beating out the previous high 90’s score of “The Avengers”!
It is important to note that Marvel handles their test audience views differently than other studios. Rather than recruiting audiences full of random people around Los Angeles streets like other studios, Marvel screens it’s movies to “friends and families”. The idea here is to have less risk of spoilers and leaks getting out to the public. Some studios do not early screen test movies for this reason, like Star Wars.
This also means, however, that you can’t really compare their results to results from other studio’s early screenings.
While a perfect test screen score is something a studio can hang their hat (or superhero mask) on, it does not guarantee success. The results of early screenings are more used to see if any changes are necessary to special effects, editing or flow of the story.
