Namco Founder Masaya Nakamura Passes Away At The Age Of 91

Bandai Namco releases an official statement on the passing of Namco founder Masaya Nakamura on January 22nd.  He was 91 years of age.

Nakamura actually founded Namco’s initial company (Nakamura Manufacturing) back in the 1950’s, well before video games came to be.

Much like Nintendo, which started off as a playing card manufacturer, Namco began as an amusement park ride manufacturer and later transitioned into video game development.  Popular titles Namco eventually developed included Pac-Man and Galaga and popular home gaming franchises such as Ridge Racer, Time Crisis and Tekken.

Here is Bandai Namco’s official release.

All of us at GeekyDaddy send our condolences to Nakamura’s family and friends.
