Hot spring resorts (or onsens) are a popular and relaxing way to enjoy a vacation in Japan, but Kyushu’s city of Beppu is looking to put a new spin on the hot spring getaway.
A video surfaced last November showing an interesting hybrid idea of merging a hot spring resort with an amusement park. Now through crowdfunding and a (vague) promise from the city’s mayor, the park has an opening date!
How they have a firm opening date prior to construction or even secured funding, I am not sure but the team at Rocket News has been doing a great job of staying on top of the story.
It sure looks like fun!
